Psalm 134

Praise from those who watch by night
..
Text
Explanation
The last of the psalms of ascents. See introduction to ps120.
1 ¶ <<A Song of degrees.>> Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.    Servants ... by night Thought to be a call to night watchmen. We may also stand in the Lord's house by the agency of Christ he0416. It may have been a time of discouragement for David who knew that God was always present in His heavenly temple and in the sanctuary, is6601, ps12104.
2  Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3  The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.
Lift up hands A natural attitude of praise. Many avoid it today because it has, in the opinion of this commentator, been abused by some sincere people who interpret sensational feelings as the presence of the Holy Spirit 1pe0304, 1ki1909ff. Of course misuse by some doesn't make it bad 1ti0208, ps02802. The problem is being misunderstood.
