Psalm 54

I will freely sacrifice unto You. I will praise Your name, O Lord, for it is good
The psalm has two parts, the second beginning with v4.
.1 ¶ <<To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?>> Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. 
 2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
  Ziphims The people of Zif in the hill country of Judah where David was hiding from Saul 1sa2314.
  Save me ... by thy name The concept of imputed righteousness. Physically and spiritually, David knew that his safety was in hiding in Christ.
 3 For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. Selah.   Strangers From zarim . It is also used for those of a different family de2505, and non-Levites nu0151.
  Not set God before them The alternative? to worship false gods or atheism ps1608
 4 ¶ Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
 5 He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.
 5 Let the evil works of my haters come back on them again; let them be cut off by your good faith. (BBE)
  God is mine helper In contrast to verse 3.
  With them He is on their side ps4611.
  In thy truth According to what He knows is right, according to His character. Because they are evil, they will be cut off, destroyed. zp0103, ps03734
 6 I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
.7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies.
 Freely From binedabah, Or "with willingness." 2co0907. See ex3529, le0716, nu1503. This woud be an offering not required by the biblical laws.
  Hath delivered me A fulfillment of the prayer in vese 2.
